Weekend Winter Storm Warning in Jackson County

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning that goes in effect beginning 7:00 a.m. Saturday and lasting until 10:00 a.m. Sunday (November 29-30).

Heavy snow is expected during this time, with total snow accumulation of six to ten inches. Roads are expected to become slick and hazardous, especially on bridges and overpasses. Falling snow may cause visibility to drop below 1/4 mile.

The heaviest snow and worst travel conditions are expected to occur on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.

The NWS advises:

  • Delaying travel if possible.
  • If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.
  • Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
  • Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns.
  • Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order.
